This section provides an overview of how the fourth National Planning Framework has been developed, from early engagement, through the Call for Ideas to the consultations on our Position Statement and Draft NPF4.
The Draft Fourth National Planning Framework (Draft NPF4), details our long term plan for what Scotland could be in 2045, and was laid in Parliament on 10 November 2021. A period of public consultation ran at the same time at Parliamentary consideration, to March 2022.
Early thinking on Regional Spatial Strategies helped to inform the preparation of NPF4.
Our Position Statement set out our thinking as of November 2020 and reflected on the wealth of information received through the 'Call for Ideas' engagement programme.
Our Call for Ideas invited stakeholders to consider Scotland in 2045 and reflect on planning policy changes and national developments needed to support this.
